Edition 03: Life Lately and Latest Temptations
Well my house has officially been taken over by Halloween. I had no car yesterday for a while so I knocked out my entry way decor and finished my front yard. It’s spooky season and I’ve decked the halls with spiders and zombies muhahahhahah (in a sing song voice).
This weekend was quiet for me. The hubby was in a golf tourney and OOMH (out of my hair) so I invited some friends to the lake. Unfortunately, I woke up Saturday early morning with a not so ready to host upset stomach and chills so there went a day of pool fun and friends. I am choosing positivity as much as I can help it right now so maybe the Universe was telling me to take a pause. So I did. I spent it in sweats on the couch, put my phone on silent, and read my book between SEC football games. It was a tad lonely and too quiet for me at times, but I am well rested and 3 pounds lighter haha.
Between a few trips coming up, hosting a few gatherings, and barreling into the Holidays I’m choosing to charge my credit card wisely. It’s still warm here in San Antonio shocker so I’m not too motivated by winter fashion though I did snag a new coat from Cos during their Friends and Family sale. If you haven’t shopped Cos, I highly recommend! Very well priced, modern yet timeless pieces.
Stay on track Sara! So until the weather drops or I travel to cooler temps, here are few weather friendly items and inspirations that are haunting me…
I think you can’t have enough great white button down shirts. I’ve talked about Ayr button down’s being my favorite, but I was inspired by a recent photo of Nicole Kidman at a Chanel fashion event to find a tunic style white shirt. Not to quote Goldilocks, but it can’t be too long, too oversized, or shapeless. The Wells shirt from A.L.C to me is jussssstttt right and has a cool edge to it.

No other brand of makeup delivers that cool French girl makeup look like Violette. Probably because the founder is French haha nevertheless j’adore all the lipstick formulas from this brand. She recently released the Plume Lip: a collection of lip stains that not only promise to be long lasting but are hydrating and don’t give your lips that dried out, stain in the cracks of your lips look (you know what I’m talking about.) I did order two colors that are arriving this week so stay tuned!
Some people have dreams where they are flying, some dream about crushes they have…I dream about outfits (when I’m not having nightmares involving snakes). One night I dreamed about an outfit for an upcoming trip that featured a brogue style loafer. I have been on a hunt for a new loafer lately so maybe my sub consciousness was advising me to seek out a brogue instead who knows! In the true algorithm world we are living in, the next morning this style from Victoria Beckham appeared in a marketing email. Granted they are not a classic shiny leather, but I have been crushing on mesh accessories for a year now so my heart fluttered a bit on these.
* side note I can’t wait for the Victoria Beckham documentary premiering on Netflix this week. The David Beckham doc was amazing so I have high hopes on this one! Posh Spice 4 Eva.

I love my historic home. It’s got this Brooklyn townhome character to it: old hardwood floors, original thick door and window trim, an exposed wooden wall. It’s also got this cool contemporary addition on the back. It’s the best of both worlds to me and can marry just about any style of interior design well. Although we’ve looked at moving, we’ve decided nothing beats our house (so far). That being said, I’m ready to give it a face lift in some rooms. Our TV room has a corner that needs a side chair and this boucle chair has been haunting me, but also this cane chair has a great traditional vibe that would also work too…#torn.

Last year I bought this scarf/sweater hybrid layering piece from Lauren Manoogian that is one of the best purchases I’ve made. It looks like a cardigan but with very long sleeves so when you layer over your shoulders, those long arms wrap around like a scarf. It’s cozy, but light weight. I travel with it A LOT and it’s a perfect transition piece or extra warmth inside when the AC is too much. I checked out what new accessories this amazing knit wear designer was coming out with this year and oops she did it again. I’ve been thinking of this knit pullover or “shoulder coverer” for days now…sigh.
I wrote this post today at a local coffee shop and witnessed a group interview of about 7 people by LuluLemon. Listening to their sales tactics each potential employee pitched took me back to my retail days, sigh. I smiled often, chuckled a bit, and sat on my hands to not intervene and offer sales tips. Ahhh my former life as a retail owner. It feels like another lifetime ago and sometimes like I never owned a store, but it is moments like today that awaken my inner shop girl.
